I hope they read the thread on the armor stacking.
I want to know when they change it so maybe I can wear my knight's armor outside of towns.

I just made 120 French Truffles yesterday; can you imagine how many I'd have to make to feed all the chocolate-lovin' Guild Wars fans out there? 1,000,000+++ ? Way too many to contemplate! That's why you can rely on the release being before 30 June!

I was there when you said in LA that chap 2 definately isn't being released the last day of June 2006.
Anyways, I figured I'd just say if it ends up that you're wrong and you end up needing a little help making those 1,000,000+ chocolates I'll bake a couple hundred of them to make your life easier
Anyways people, quit complaining and go play the game. I know we all want new content and we want it now but if they gave you everything you wanted now what would they have for you to buy in 6 months? It's just common business sense.

i think armor will never stack because each one is slightly (or greatly) different.
think of char hides or even ingots that refuse to stack due to a slight build difference.
than think armor x with rune y applied to piece z and that will never stack.
headpiece of air/warer/fire/earth
are all *headpieces* but you cant stack them as headpieces

The first law of software engineering is, "If it works, don't fix it."
The second law is, "Make no changes at all unless you absolutely have no choice."
Further, I think their entire effort is concentrated on the x-pack at this point, which is the future of GW.

Gaile, may I ask how exactly do you pick alpha/beta testers? The company I work (which specializes in landscape and on-demand design such as texturing, animation, etc) has contacts with a few game developers, and for most cases companies we dealt with pick people that have absolutely to experience in the game whatsoever.
Do you pick players from forums? Do you care about their game experience? Or maybe player's Guild performance is the key factor? I am curious how things work in ArenaNet

Please don't complain about the game, atleast they update it like they do. Maybe this is just me speaking from my time on diablo ii where blizz likes to update about every 2 years.

I hear ya, GW is probably the last of it's kind, as an online game w/o monthly fees... its hard to be mad at something thats free.

This statement is a perfect example, in many ways, of what's wrong with portions of any gaming community. First, because it's not done to this person's timing satisfaction, it OBVIOUSLY is a case of lying or breaking a promise. Second, you have the requisite spelling error (differance). Third, because a handful of things haven't been completed within this person's acceptable timing window, all future promises should be suspect...
Observer mode was promised as an upcoming feature MONTHS before it appeared. Same with the cape toggle feature, and many other features that HAVE made it into the game. If Anet has proven one thing over the 8 months or so the game has been out, it's that they DO come through on their promises, and provide us with 10x more gameplay than most crap games out there on the market. Type /age and reflect on what other games you've played for that amount of time for your hard-earned $50. While you're at it, try to remember when a developer came out with as much new content as Anet has in the first 8 months of a release.
Forum mods, you really do a great job on these forums. You really do. Add one more 'close thread' rule to your list - griefing. Please...

While I don't support his post, I don't think it would be concidered "griefing". He stated that he liked the game and pretty much summurised what you said about the /age thing.

I think A.Net did a fantastic job with the game. I feel they don't have any obligation to continue updating it like they do; it's not like there is a monthly fee, and you should get what you payed for.

Back to the subject. Gaile is correct, in that none of these were ever "promises" per se, but simply how the op percieved them. Though I am kinda sad to hear that Ascalon/Knight's armor may never be updated... NEVER

The trickery, when talking to companies (usually to PR people) is, that they are unfortunately smart enough to be capable of certain rethoric skills.
If you pay close attention to what "they" say, you'll find out that they use a lot of phrases like
"I do believe..."
"I have high hopes that..."
"I have any confidance in this and that will happe"...
"I blablabla..."
Because the majority of people, including me, tend to interpret these phrases as "I promise you that ... take my word for it" confusion is created.
Recalling my thread about blocked character names, I know, that it's a mistake to fall for such rethoric trickery.
They sure want to make the readers belive that <this and that> will happen, but the phrase it in such a manner, that they can't be nailed to it.
So aNet probably didn't promise anything.

The armor reduction does NOT stack, this has been proven in repeated tests, whether you have 1 pc or 4 pcs it doesn't matter, it is a universal coverage, meaning you only need one pc to have the affect cover the entire character, this was a design decision by the developers and was expected.
|
About the Knights set. Surely that can't be considered a minor thing, or making a mountain of a molehill? The fact one single piece of Knights has the same effect as a full suit that in itself is cause for concern? It means Knights set is completely useless! You only use one part of it and you get the benefit of a full suit. I know, because I bought a full set of Knights when I first got into Droknar... later on I found out about this, and ever since then it's been sitting with the Xunlai gathering dust (for months now...)
At least fix that, so it's locational (as I believe the manual suggested originally) - making an entire set of armour redundant because you only need one piece is imho quite a big thing.
Edit: if it's true this was a design decision, might I ask why? I don't understand what's the point of Knights set as it is? This applies to the Ascalon set too I believe, so that's two sets of armour... completely useless!

You call it rhetoric trickery, I call it an attempt of concise communication. I think it is important to keep in mind that the questions attempting to shed light at current or planned developments cannot be answered with certainty before all aspects of the respective issue have been agreed upon and finalized within Anet.

Just to add, I think the same also applies for Mesmer Courtly and Performer sets. The "+armour while casting" is global from what I've read, so if that's true as well that ups the "armour sets that are useless in their entirity" to at least 4 (I don't know if there are maybe other sets which are similar)... if this is by design, then it's imho not such a good decision.

Personally i like it, i dont like the look of a full set of knights. I prefere plate or glads so this lets me wear my favoroite and just wear the ascalon helm.

Well, to be fair, why don't we give +7 energy for wearing one piece of gladiator's armor? Or +5 armor (everywhere) for wearing one piece of Wyvern/Platemail armor?
Hell, why even have armor hit-location based in the first place?

You must be one of them
What I was trying to say was: People, don't listen to anything you think you're being promised, until you see the results.
Companies promise all kind of things to keep people attached and focused on them.

Im fed up of people flapping and complaining about the knights armour thing. Either use it and benefit or get on with something else and stop trying to ruin it for the people who like it. Does no one like the fact that you can mix your armour for greater benefit? suerly this gives you greater flexability! or are there too many snobs that bought knights armour and not liking the platemail/knights benefits too much?...boo hoo!...BOO HOO!!
get a life, get a real problem to moan about and stop whining!!...nerf....nerf....NERF EVERYTHING!
(whine) its not fair warriors get an extra rune...its not fair warriors get wepon upgrades...its not fair warriors get adrenalin...its not fair warriors get damage reduction...BOO HOO!
